A-7E Corsair II ‘’Desert Storm’’

VA-72 ‘’Blue Hawks’’ Vought A-7E ‘’Corsair II’’ (BuNo. 160552) of Commander, Carrier Air Wing (‘’CAG’’)

A 72nd Attack Squadron (VA-72) “Blue Hawks” LTV A-7E Corsair II (Bu No 160552) of Commander, Carrier Air Wing 3 (CAG CVW-3) flies home after deployment to the Persian Gulf region during “Operation Desert Storm”. The squadron’s aircraft, along with the VA-46 “Clansmen” aircraft, were decommissioned on 30 June 1991 after returning to the United States after twenty years of service with Carrier Air Wing 3 (CVW-3). This Corsair displays a camouflage paint scheme along with the name of the war in which it played a role. Corsairs from both VA-72 and VA-46 were stationed on the aircraft carrier USS John F. Kennedy (CV-67). Note the “Camel” symbols for missions flown during Operation Desert Storm below the flight deck.
