Vought A-7E Corsair II VA 37 During a North African Desert 1990
The first time I saw this particular A-7E was when the book A-7E corsairII in action 1120 fell into my hands. Many years ago. Ever since then, I’ve been meaning to make it into a model. For this rare A-7. There are no photos or any specific information.During the Gulf War.The US Navy. painted individual aircraft with a desert variation No specific design and was essentially, an overlay over the base grey. I also followed this process.
Painting. The first step was to prime with SURFACE PRIMER USN Gray by Vallejo. Then I covered all the panels with black matte and on top with Ghost gray FS-36375 from model master and the radar with the antennas Dark ghost gray FS-36320. I sealed all of them with matte varnish. Later I covered the panel FS- 30371 by Colorcoats Modern USN Riverine Green This color is a deep shade of sand. The next and more difficult stage was to do with a CD marker (0.5m/m), the bull and the 302 on the kit. As there are no marks for this particular issue. I ended up filling the gaps in the panels with Humbrol’s (121 matt). This is a basic pink that would easily highlight the sun burnt parts of the paint. ). The actual correct color of A-7 is not clear what it is. So I’ve done some testing to determine the best color.
The light sand reference is FS 31667 but no color matches this FS! I chose to take Humbrol’s 148 and add a little red and two parts white. In addition, I diluted it with thinner almost 50/50. And I applied the last color with the biggest nozzle like rain, this way we reveal the colors underneath.
The next stage was to wash off the salt and rub with a fine tissue paper, those places where the ghee would show, where necessary. After carefully cleaning. I took a very fine brush and mixed oil white with Humbrol 121. I carefully lighted, points on the panel, caps on the fuselage and individual parts of the wings! I applied matte varnish and shielded the
paint for the last time and start the damage.
I did not use enhancements on the A7. I took a pilot from a TAMIYA F-16 and changed the seat by making it, from 0″ version AV-8B Harrier SJU-4 (Stencil S-III-S)Ejection Seat
