The first 37 F-104Gs were delivered in 1964 and assigned to the 335th Fighter/Bomber Squadron3 and later. In 1972, another nine were delivered by the US, originating from the Spanish Air Force. Between 1978 and 1985, approximately fifty F and RF-104Gs arrived in Greece, from Germany and ten from the Netherlands, including some RF-104Gs. From 1971 the aircraft were painted in a “Vietnam” variant. It was the first aircraft of the Hellenic Air Force to exceed Mach 2. It was retired in 1993.

The F-104G Starfighter “Olympus” is located. Dhekelia Tatoi Museum. It is parked outside.
A true legend of the skies, a Hellenic Air Force F-104 Starfighter, with a unique paint scheme, has been completely restored, making it once again a proud warbird.
The paint scheme depicts Olympus, the highest mountain in Greece, known as the “home of the ancient gods” in Greek mythology, as the 336th HAF squadron has its emblem based on Olympus.
This particular Starfighter, No. 7151, served in the German Air Force and was inducted into the Air Force in 1982.
The talented maintenance crew of the Hellenic Air Force Museum took on the challenge of refreshing the paint scheme, which had faded as the aircraft was exposed to the elements on the tarmac of Tatoi Air Base, where the Museum is located.
