Aggressor Camouflage F-15 Squadron 65thNellis, “Blue Flanker 2” scheme
The 65th Aggressor Squadron began flying the F-5E Tiger II in 1975. It provided attack training to U.S. Air Force fighter crews participating in Red Flag and other exercises at the expansive Nellis Air Force Range. The 65th flew its last attack mission on 7 April 1989, before being inactivated. Upon reactivation in late 2005, the 65th received its first F-15, painted in the “Sand” “Blue Flanker (2)” camouflage scheme. During the year, some F-15s were also given the “Splinter” designation. Currently, nine F-15s are being flown to the 65th, with a planned total of 24, reaching a strength of about 18 jets and sadly being deactivated for many years until shortly before September 26, 2014.
