Curtiss SC-1 Seahawk By:Gary Wickham
I am happy to share with you my latest completed work: The Curtiss SC-1 Seahawk by Halberd Models, in 1/48 scale.
This is my first full resin kit and honestly, it was a great experience!
Halberd Models, a small Ukrainian company that I really appreciate, won me over from the start with the quality of their resin parts and their love for special topics of aviation history.
With this kit, in addition to my “virgin” full resin model, I tried for the first time:
3D-printed parts that I designed myself
CAD engraving of rivets for greater accuracy
The process took almost a year (mainly due to limited free time), but the kit itself was incredibly “friendly” to the hand, like good plastic.
I chose the VCS-9 version of the CL-50 USS Helena (1946), because I really like the shapes of the transitional period after WWII.
In addition, I made a base with figures to add liveliness to the composition, although figure painting is something I’m still learning, it helped me a lot to “tie” the whole thing and gives me motivation to improve further.
I hope you like the result! See the entire step-by-step build from Gary Wickham’s official page : https://www.scalespot.com/onthebench/sc1-halberd/sc1_halberd_build.php
