He 111H-16 Heinkel Luftwaffe “Norway-1943″By AITOR AZKUE
GALLERY GUEST: “Norway-1943” 1/32 by AITOR AZKUE.
This is the latest piece by Aitor Azkue. If you don’t remember the name, you might want to check out “Never Ending Story?” here , you probably do.
With this work Aitor Azkue brings us a dramatic image of the more bitter side of aviation. As usual in his latest works, the central scene immediately catches the viewer’s attention, making us focus on the story. From there we can start a journey around the environment to check out the amazing level of detail and realism that enhance the emotion of the message. Aitor is a diorama artist who goes beyond the simple standards of technical skills in modeling and composition and seeks a way to touch the viewer. An artist in every sense of the word (a not-quite-remarkable modeler in my opinion, but he will certainly be).
Just a thought about one of my favorite elements, the ruined skiff or, as I like to call it, the ship of oblivion. Why is it there? Is it just an element to fill an empty corner? Does it have any significance? Well, anyone can make their own guess, but I personally think it is a bitter metaphor for the loss of the crashed bird and perhaps the injured crew members.
It is difficult to be original in the certification of this kind of work.
I hope this bitter scene in Norway moves you as much as it moved me.
