F4U-1 Corsair. Bu No.02386. “Ramblin’ Wreck”
VMF-121. Espiritu Santo on May 8, 1944.
In the famous photo. 02386. F4u-1 Corsairs, intended to be returned to the US for refurbishment and reassignment to the Training Command. It is painted in a modified 3-tone field of non-Spec Sea Blue (FS 35042), Intermediate Blue (35164), over existing Light Gray (FS-36440) downgrades (or possibly repainted). Note the cowl panel with the nose salvaged from the Marine’ Dream. The engine nose remains, as shown in the photo below. The paint from the Factory color above. Blue Gray (FS-25189) and Light Gray (FS-36440) below. Seen on the tank roll .In front of the cockpit. That the entire surface was painted and later the insulating tape was removed. Which was placed for the gasoline leak. As a result, the color underneath shows Blue Gray (FS-25189). That’s it, because there is a piece of fabric on the cockpit let’s say that the plastic sheet behind the cover is made of Plexiglas. Note the 452 in the background, which retains the two-tone variation, how sunburnt and bright it looks.
Ramblin Wreck posted his girlfriend 576 Marine Dream .Which is a drawing of a blonde girl with tanned skin
